a.  We’re fortunate that his passion runs deep for our East Cape communities as new Mayor Luis Lucero took the helm in Los Barriles at the end of November. Luis was truly the heir apparent for this position, highly endorsed by his constituents from El Cardonal to San Bartolo and especially by his predecessor, Delegada Francie Olachea. He comes with great previous experience, having served twice as the ‘Sub Delegado’ of his home community of El Cardonal. He loves the environment, the beaches, the mountains, the desert and the people that populate them. He will be at Recycling’s first Movie Night on January 10 to meet his English-speaking community and share a bit about his initiatives. Also, Wednesday afternoons from noon on he is available at the Delegation building to meet with anyone who would like to see him. a.  Start 2019 off right! Mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 2nd and then mark the 1st Wednesday of each month for recycling in El Cardonal where the community comes together to sort and prepare mountains of recyclables for transport to La Paz for processing. You can make a difference. Bring your cardboard, paper, aluminum, metal, and plastic to town between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 and then stay to help out.
