  1.  Following up a previous post about the Bancomer ATM I concur that BBVA puts limits on your withdrawals. The cap is not known but must be around $1000. The timeframe is not known but may be monthly as my funds were suddenly available March 1.   I also experienced the daily limit reduction, eg I could get 8000 pesos one day then 2000 the next and then nothing until the first of the month. Suggesting that 8000 would have put me over the time period limit but 2000 would not.   The ATM just gives the cryptic message ‘Available bills: $100’ to indicate you have exceeded the cap (if you can get a lesser amount it will still give you $500’s etc despite the message).   If someone can verify this it will be helpful. – steve@majorcreekcellars.com

  1.  My observations after months using the local BBVA Bancomer ATMs: Many have mentioned the fickle nature of the local ATM. Some days, you can pull your limit, some days nada. I believe the BBVA software puts a multi-day limit on how much you can withdraw that is more restrictive than your ATM card issuing bank’s limit. For example, if I have a daily USA WD limit of $600 ($4200/week), my first WD at BBVA will allow me $600. But the next day BBVA allows only a lesser amount (maybe $300), and the 3rd consecutive day I can’t WD anything. (Of course, this is all done in pesos.) I call my bank after BBVA rejects my ATM WD request the 3rd day, and they tell me they never even received an electronic request for WD from my account, meaning BBVA rejected me, NOT my bank. When I try again a few days later, I get my full limit again. So, for me, I have to wait a few days (up to a week) to be able to WD my daily limit again. I hope this helps those who have had similar experiences. – alex@tenggarapoint.com
