Your hard drive will fail!  It’s just a question of when it will fail.  There are generally no indications that it is failing.  It can fail within 90 days or more likely at 8 years.  It will work today just fine, tomorrow it may fail.  Back up your most important files daily or after every use.  Backup all files once a week.  How?  Excellent question.  I use at least two external drives (I have more but I keep that a secret from my wife).  I also use online storage. Dropbox which makes all those files available on all my devices and mobile devices.  Idrive is another good solution for automatic backup.  One copy of a file no matter where it is does not represent a backup copy.  Photos are even easier.  Google Photos offers backup for free up to 1TB at reduced resolution.  Amazon Prime offers free online photo storage at full resolution. thecomputerguy@usa.com
