  • A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, Earth and sun fall into alignment, with the moon passing through Earth’s shadow, according to NASA. When the moon passes through the darkest part of the Earth’s shadow, called the umbra, it’s known as a total lunar eclipse, the space agency said.

CINCO de MAYO!

Sad News: Our friend of many years, Suzanne Bishop Adams passed a few days ago.  Her Dad, Elmer and David worked at TRW in the late 60’s and that relationship brought Suzanne here to Los Barriles where she had many, many friends.  She loved playing pickleball and was good at it!  She is survived by her four children, Alexa, Jameson, Dalton, Landon, Mom Mary, Dad Elmer, and brother Tom as well as extended family.    The family is waiting for the medical reports to determine the cause of death.  Good-bye beautiful lady…………….Cheryl and David Dondlinger

Sad News…..

Many long time residents of Los Barriles and Buena Vista knew Maggie Mae.  Maggie passed away  a couple of days ago.  She had moved back to the U.S. to be near her family.I have so many memories of Maggie.  I met her in 2001 in Los Barriles.  She was truly an animal lover and advocate.  This was long before there were any animal rescues or organizations dedicated to helping the many unwanted sick, starving, homeless animals
that roamed our beaches, arroyos and highways. Hardly, a day went by when we didn’t see dead dogs along the highway.  An absolutely tragic situation.  Most days Maggie and Sheila Marshall could be found in town trying to raise a little money to help feed and care for these pitiful animals.  In 2001, local businessman, Ron Mc Crea launched a project to organize and form  a humane society in Los Barriles.  Maggie, Sheila, Carolyn, myself and others dedicated ourselves to help move this forward creating A.L.M.A. , Animal Lovers of Mexico, Assoc.  At that time the primary objective of ALMA was to provide spay and neuter in order to curb the population of unwanted dogs in the area.  Los Barriles in 2001 was still a very small Puebla and there wasn’t a vet in town.  We brought vets in from La Paz, San Jose and the United States and have big spay and neuter clinics.  Field hospitals were set up in garages or any place available that had water and some protection from the sun and wind.  Maggie was always available to help in  any way she could.  Tired, hungry, discouraged, it didn’t matter Maggie was always there to help. 
R.I.P. dear Maggie.  I’ll never forget all you did to help the dogs in this community.
