Paint needed!!!  Asociacion de Artes has delivered school supplies in the last couple of weeks and we found some wishes we need help fulfilling.  La Ribera Primary school needs to have fresh paint in the classrooms.  So we are asking Everyone if you have paint leftover from your building projects and are willing to donate it, we would love to get it to help the school out.   We need a minimum of full one gallon containers (so no 1/2 full gallons), and if you have 5 gallons containers 1/2+ full the better!  All colors are appreciated!  The classrooms have sat empty for 2 years, and they need to new paint.  The kids deserve a fresh environment.  So, if you have leftovers or want to just buy some paint, we would appreciate it.   They hope to do the painting while the kids are on Easter Break, so we are looking for it right away.  You can contact us at eastcapersmagazine@gmail.com and we can arrange for pick up or tell you where to drop off.  If you have questions, please send me an email.   Thanks for helping the schools of the East Cape Area and Asociacion de Artes’s mission!

Los Barriles community! Here is an update on the family in Santiago that had lost so much and I asked for donations for them. Thank you for helping, it was beyond all of our expectations. Within two days, enough money was raised to accomplish goal one: for the family to rebuy their tools and for the young man to buy his computer.
After this accomplishment, the next goal was to buy paint. Not sure how that would happen and make the house livable again for the Mother to move back into her house- way beyond my talents! But, as I was dashing one day from Caleb’s to our local vegetable stand, a long time friend (who wants to remain anonymous) that was eating at Loncheria Mar y Tierra asked me, “ do you have a minute?”. My response was, “you have about 30 seconds” as I was on a mission for Caleb’s! He said, “I am interested in helping the Santiago family”.
The next day, we had a meeting with a long time friend of the family, Raquel, and some members of East Cape Christian Church. After the meeting, Raquel, my friend and I jumped in the car and the three of us dashed off to see the family in Santiago.
Out of that meeting, my friend went back with his measuring tape and a few friends and started the plan of action on how to make the house ready for the Mother to move back in. Through his contacts, volunteers, and donations from his local church, the goal became for the Mother to be able to move back into her home this next week.With your donations, and the involvement of my friend and his wife, along with their contacts- new paint, doors, windows, new floors, and ceiling repairs were all completed! A very special thanks to my friend and his wife for taking on the 2nd goal.
Although, much is yet to be done, the family can pick up the torch from here and have a breath of fresh air and hope. Thank All of you for helping to make this happen. Some of you I don’t even know and many of you wanted to remain anonymous. The family sends you their Thanks and Gratitude for your kindness and generosity. Also, when I made the trip to Santiago to see who I could help I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be. I stand in awe to my God in how He lead and directed to help this family and the mission He put on my heart. I also, say thanks to EVERYONE that helped in some way. It is truly a joy to see the smiles on the faces of the family as their family home is livable again and the brothers are back to work. I am sure we are only a small piece in the puzzle as many of their friends also helped in different ways. Thank you again Los Barriles community for your help, trust and donations. They believe 7 mph/11 km is our best chance for success.The quad rental companies are completely leaning in. They are supporting our branding and will apply the Zona Tranquila beach speed of 7 mph/11km to their rental vehicles. Some are providing funding.With the effectiveness of many Zona Tranquila ‘impressions’, it’s awareness & information we are creating. The signage is underway, all printed pieces are ordered.
