Sad News: Roger Canon, longtime resident, homeowner and visitor to the area for many years, left us on Feb. 9th after a short but heroic battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Nansi, their beloved family and many, many friends. Nansi would like to invite you to a casual gathering to honor and celebrate Roger’s life on Friday, March 15th, Rogers birthday at Los Barriles Grill from 11am until 1pm.     Presently they are in Cabo and San Jose with some amazing rescuers that I help with small dogs. There is a little female that looks like a mini boxer and is only 9 lbs and 1 year old.  A male terrier mix that looks non shedding, 1 year old and 12 lbs and a low rider female chi mix 1 year and 13 lbs.  Adoption fees will be the vet costs they have incurred for spay/neuter, vaccines, SNAP test for tick fever and treatment, etc. Please message me if you would like to know more.   1.   Heads-up. On Sat while walking 1st arroyo with small plastic bag picking up litter, I passed large white and brown cow. I turned around and within 10 secs I heard running hooves, turned to see white cow 2 feet from me with her head down running to hit me. I yelled, threw bag down, she stopped, started nosing the bag. I ran til laze days. Looked back and 5 cows nosing the spilt litter. In 30 years Ive never had a bad cow encounter but this cow could have killed or seriously Injured me. She was charging me.   1.   Note on the Costco overcharge for gas in last issue.  When you enter your information and choose the vehicle, depending on choosing SUV, truck, etc., the gas will come out to what the capacity of chosen vehicle is.  I thought the same thing last time I filled up at Costco, but within a few days the actual cost came through as the amended charge.  The first charge for a full tank was in the pending charges on my account.  Give it time and I bet it will work out correctly.

Note A: We have a very rare opportunity to see whales frolicking off our coastline during our calm winter days. It is this opportunity that is being abused daily. Our current Humpback mama and calf are being chased and harassed by folks on SUPs and kayaks along with fishing boats and pangas. The stress this causes whales is death to the young calves as they are forced to remain submerged due to the threat of vessels and people. Its a problem. The law clearly states you “may not be within 300’ of any marine mammal, causing them to alter their paths or change their behavior.” Enough said.
