*STRENGTH
TRAINING Beginning November 20.
I will be leading various levels of Strength Training classes in Los
Barriles this year.
At the Yoga Center classes will meet on on Tuesdays from 11 AM till
noon and on Fridays from 8:30-9:30 AM We will focus mostly on core
exercises using body weight, plus some small weights (5-8 pound
dumbbells) as the challenge. The exercises will be done slowly and
to
muscle fatigue. In other words, you go until you can’t do any more.
We
will be doing things like plank, push-ups, sit-ups, squats,
supermans
and more. I will include various modifications for the strong and
not-so-strong person. However, if you have shoulder issues, I would
recommend that you sign up for one of the home-gym classes described
below.
If you are driving down to LB, throw a couple of dumbbells into the
car to bring to class. (Neoprene covered is easiest on our hardwood
floors) I will have some dumbbells available as well.
HOME GYM CLASSES:
STRONG WOMEN, STRONG BONES
I will lead more specialized classes from my home gym. Each class
will
meet two times per week for starters with a maximum of six people
per
class.
STRONG WOMEN Level 1 will be Strength Training for women with a
focus
on maintaining bone strength. If you have osteoporosis, or you are
concerned about injuring yourself in a higher energy class, the
caution and attention given at Level 1 will allow you to develop
strength and balance safely and at your own pace. Sign up with a
friend!
STRONG WOMEN Level 2 will be a more rigorous class. We will use
weights, balls, bands and bars to work muscles to fatigue. And if
you’re not fatigued, you will increase weights and reps to give you
the challenge your body needs. Each participant will track of their
individual progress
*POSTURAL ALIGNMENT
I will also be leading an Egoscue Postural Alignment class at the
Yoga
Center on Tuesday mornings at 9:45-10:45.. This class will involve
mild postural exercises that work to balance your body and allow you
to exist more functionally. If you suffer from chronic back pain,
this
