c. Car Insurance Discussion: Information: What
amount of Liability Insurance is required in Mexico? The minimum
required by the Government for Liability Car Insurance in Mexico is
not regulated. The awards for third-party personal injury and
property damage, or a fatality, vary from State to State. These
awards have been significantly increased and are the point of a lot
of discussion. None-the-less, in the case of an accident where the
extent of damage is beyond the limit of the insurance you carry, you
could be liable for the excess amount. FOR YOUR GLOVE BOX CHECKLIST:
1. Copy of your insurance policy in Spanish. 2. If your car is U.S.
registered, then a copy of your U.S. Driver’s License, laminated,
and the original in your wallet or purse. You can get a laminated
copy at Chapitos. 3. It is a good idea to have the English version
of your policy in the glove box, so you can point out the coverage
amounts. 4. Make a page with the contact information for reporting
an accident and the phone number of your agent. 5. You are going to
