Buena Fortuna - La Ribera, guided tours by Gabriel Howearth   Click Here for info
 (12-12-13)

Please join us for a botanical garden tour guided by world-renowned botanist, Gabriel Howearth. This 11 acre site has been transformed in just 15 short years from hot dry desert to an abundant, fertile edible oasis. Buena Fortuna is home to over 3,500 plant species collected from all over the world. You won't want to miss this opportunity to view a manifestation of what is possible when permaculture design principles and a passion for sustainability are put to work. The gardens are organized botanically by plant families and shaped in diverse symbolic, sacred geometric forms. Plant experts as well as those with little previous interest will enjoy Gabriel's botanical knowledge and delightful humour as he guides you on a stroll through this wonder of creation. We are open on Saturdays starting at 10:00 am and other days by special request. Tours generally last from 1.5 to 2 hours. Landscape design consultations, nursery plants, and organic seeds also available. Please contact buenafortunagardens@gmail.com  for advanced reservations. We also offer a vegetarian garden lunch by request. Prices are $15 for tour and $30 for tour/lunch, or peso equivalent. We are located at the entrance to La Rivera which is about 7 miles or 12 km east from Las Cuevas, approx. one hour north of San Jose. It is located on the north side of the road across the street for Cabo Riviera. Look for the big yellow gates. We look forward to sharing the rich diversity of our gardens with you.
