RECYCLE NEWS: THURSDAY,
JULY 4 is our next recycle day. We need
VOLUNTEERS this month as many of our regulars are gone!
Please come help us stomp, sort and load this month's
recycles at East Cape RV and Casas' recycling area between 9am-11am.
Even if you have just part of that time available, we would
LOVE to see you. Bring hat, gloves, and a smile! Check for

Question: Purchasing plane tickets at San Jose:
Online for Spirit Airlines it says that fares are generally lower at
airport. Has anyone ever went standby to San Diego? Was it a lot
less expensive than buying a prepaid ticket online? We want to fly

Help Support
our Schools: The primary school
has made many positive changes
over the past couple of years
under the direction of the well
respected principal, Andrea. The
school is now designated a "high
quality" school in the state
which has given them more
funding. They have used it for
shade, and computers and other
improvements. Next year, in
accordance with a new national
amendment to the education act,
kids here will be in school two
extra hours until
2:30.
Andrea's long term goal is to
build a cafeteria which will
enable the school to stay open
till
4:00
and to serve two meals a day (an
hour each), at low cost, 15
pesos a day, for kids because
the government will provide
assistance. Only 5 schools in La
Paz have this designation.
First, however, the Sociedad de
Padres de Famila (like the PTA),
is building a better dining area
with a floor instead of dirt,
and shade instead of open air.
There will be painted tables,
too. They are trying to make the
area more hygienic and
comfortable for the kids. They
are already working on it (peek
through the fence). They will be
selling raffles to raise funds
at the Palmas fishing
tournament: The Dorado Shootout.
(Award is a night's stay at
Palmas, great for visitors,
friends or family) starting June
24th until the event which
starts
July 20th.
Tix are $5 or 5 for $20. Funds
go towards the new project. They
are also selling beer at the
next quinceanera at the Cancha
(more profitable than a bake
sale!) The school is doing what
it can, but they need support.
To buy raffle tickets or to
grant much needed donations,
please contact the president of
the Parents' Associaton, Venus
at 124-8137 or drop by the
school office and leave with the
director, Andrea. Raffle
tickets can also be purchased at
Palmas from Valentin (one of the
