EL TORO Y LA LUNA ANNOUNCEMENTNT
To all our customers and friends, we'll want to communicate that we will be working  through Wednesday 27th and returning to our regular schedule Monday April 1st.  Happy Easter
=====================================

With all the power outages, I hope most of you have a UPS or Uninterrupted Power Supply - in English, a Battery Backup unit.  Those quick power drops followed by their return can be deadly to hard drives; yes your Dish DVR has a hard drive!  Last St Patricks day, there was a power outage followed by a neigborhood brown out.  The brown outs are even worse - they destroy those little power chargers that you plug into the wall.  All those cordless phones, cellphone & Ipad chargers are highly susceptible to brown outs.  I bring the UPS systems down to Baja with me when I drive at the beginning of the year.  From time to time, they can be located at Costco.  Might look at Office Max or Office Depot as well.

Well, I'm just finishing up my first three weeks with Windows 8.  I'm more comfortable each day.  Here are some helpful tips.  Unlike previous versions of Windows, you do not need to add an Anti Virus program!  "Windows Defender" is built-in. The opening page was initially called "Metro"; that has now change to "Start".  If you are searching for almost anything whether it be program, file, document or photo, just start typing the name of the file on the "Start" page.  Instantly you will be brought to a search page.  From there you can fine tune the search to a program, file, etc.  To get to the old style desktop, hold down the Windows Logo Key (Start key on some keyboards) and touch the letter "D" for desktop.  To return to the Start page, touch the Windows Key.  To find the shutdown icon, hold down the Windows Key and touch the letter "C" for control.  If you have a favorite short cut on the standard desktop and would like to move it to the Start Page, right click over the icon and left click on "Pin to Start".  That new Icon or tile will appear on the far right side.  You can reposition the tiles by holding down on the curser and moving the tile to the desired location.

Windows 8 is best used with a touch sensitive screen.  Incorporating the touch screen and keyboard will make Windows 8 more user friendly.  The Windows 8 "Store" on the Start Page has plenty of Apps that make the system easier to use.

If you have Windows 7 and are happy, I don't see a need to upgrade.  If you buy a new computer, you will adapt fairly easily with some patience and practice.
