RECYCLE NEWS! PLASTIC BAG TRANSPORT PROGRAM: East Cape Recycling
Baja has long wanted to declare a "War On Plastic Bags"!! We began
by offering our big blue reusable grocery bags last year. Sadly,
plastic grocery bags and other low-density polyethylene bags remain
an environmental pollution disaster and pose a particular danger in
marine environments like ours, not to mention an unsightly mess all
over the landscape. There is no local recycling vendor for these
bags in Baja CA, so we came up with a possible solution to help
relieve this blight. Beginning December 5, ECRB, as a trial
initiative, will accept CLEAN (and we mean clean!) plastic bags on
Recycle Day at the Recycling Center. For this program to succeed, we
need Plastic Bag Transport Volunteers to:
1. Take "packets" (8" x 8" x 2") of clean plastic bags to the US and
Canada when they travel, and
2. Drop them in a recycling barrel when they arrive.
Help us make this program successful. If you are heading north for
the holidays, please become a Plastic Bag Transport Volunteer and
fit a "packet" or two or more into your luggage or car when you
travel north. Sample "packets" will be available for you to see on

BAJA SHAKESPEARE IS COMING! In 2014 we will be presenting an
original comedy written — not by Shakespeare — but right here in
East Cape. It is entitled “The Puppets’ Ire or How I Learned to Love
Barbed Wire.” Guest Director Gloria Moulopoulos will lead our Baja
troupe in an uproarious battle between good and evil set in the Old
West. Auditions are scheduled for 1 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014 on
the seafront deck at Rancho Buena Vista. We are casting 13 speaking
parts and 16 country western dance parts. No experience necessary.
The shows will be March 21, 22, 23, 27, 28 and 29, 2014 under the
