                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 As all of you know by now Annie Smith passed away this week and she will surely be missed. Her children are flying in today and Jimmy will take them to La Paz tomorrow for the final viewing of their mother.
Trish and I will be at the house after 2:00 Saturday if anyone wants to drop off dishes to help their visit be less stressful it would be a great help. Jimmy's not real fond of a lot of Mexican dishes but loves stir frys so fresh veges, fruit, items for sandwiches, things that are easy, easy, easy a pot of soup, which could be frozen and portioned out. We have a ham, a roasted chicken and meatloaf coming so far and salad.
June is putting together a cd of pictures for the wake if anyone has special pictures to share contact her and see if she can work it into her slide show.
Tentatively, the wake is scheduled for Thursday 3:00 at the community church, Rosemary is organizing this so any ideas for flowers etc.. should be directed to her. A celebration of Annie's life will follow at 4:00 at the Smith residence. If there should be a change in these dates we will post them .
Thanks so much everyone for being so helpful in this this sad time.
DeeDee and Trish
We've been fostering a dog and she now has a home in San Diego. We are looking for anyone flying to San Diego on Alaska Air in the near future that could volunteer as being her escort, no cost involved, just that the dog needs someone flying with her on the same flight in order for Alaska to allow them to fly up. The new owner will be at the airport to receive her. Please call 624-156-5104 or email captainscott34@gmail.com  Thank You, Scott and Linda Lewis
     I just tried to check in at Spirit in San Diego and learned that they wouldn't take me back to Los Cabos unless I could prove I was returning to the US later (with a booked return flight with any airline) or papers proving my status in MX. He said that all airlines are required to do this, as of December 2014, but many don't, or at least not yet.
     He also told me that If I couldn't have shown any of those things (which I happened to be able to do, having already booked my return flight in Virgin, which I showed him), Spirit, meaning he, could have booked me a return flight on Spirit just so that I could show I had one. Later, I could just cancel it and get a refund. I'm not sure you can get a complete refund on Spirit.
     Has anybody else had this experience? Jennifer Flower alighton [at} me (dot) com.
     The school bus which transport the students, who study at the PREPA level (Senior high), each school day, from El Cardonal to Los Barriles and back, from 3 PM to 8 PM, are travelling in darkness on a USA reject school bus; said bus is in bad mechanical condition and is not big enough for the 20 plus students thus students must stand during the 40 plus or minus travel. The bus has had break failures and bad tires. At this time the bus is not big enough and next August there will be more students. For these reasons a new bus is needed; according to my research on the Net a 30+ seating capacity, in excellent condition, used bus cost aprox. 20,000.00 US$.
     I would like to know if there are people interested in joining me in getting a new bus, in other words people who are willing to contribute so as to buy a bus for the students.
     A committee, bank account controlled by two persons in which deposits could be made must be established, thus volunteers are needed.
     I await replies to this mail,   Lic. Jacques-Edouard Beaulne, LL.B., D.D.N.
a.  Does anyone have a local number or even an email address for the US Consulate to verify dates and hours.  When I call the old listed number it goes to Mexico City with about 13 options, no options to speak with a person. Don't like to make a trip there from La Paz and find them not open.
b.  Is anyone using a Sonos wireless speaker system here in Baja? I'm planning to bring one down for a new casa and am wondering if there are any glitches one should know about....Also, does anyone know if RJ6 wire and CAT6E wire is available here, perhaps San Jose, Cabo or LaPaz? e.  Going nuts. I have found articles stating that in 2013 the duty free import limit was raised to $500 if by air or sea and $300 if by land. I found the Customs Declaration (2013 edition) in english and it reflects these duty free amounts. Unfortunately, now that I am trying to print it I cannot find it. I found a link to SAT and get the Declaration De Aduana (Customs Declaration) Edition 2013 and there it is in beautiful print. 500 dollars and 300 dollars. Unfortunately it is in spanish. Does anyone have a link to the English version?
