a.  BAJA NIGHT SKY–Super Full Moons rise tonight at 5:32 pm and Tuesday night at 6:40 pm. Both about 15% larger than normal. The true full moon occurs at 8:50 Tuesday morning, about halfway between the two Super Moons. Tuesday’s is only 0.1% more illuminated. This morning’s Venus-Saturn conjunction was blurred by clouds. Tuesday morning between 5:30 and 6 am should be almost as good. Here is a map. All the circles with a + inside on the map are globular clusters. With that said, I want to let you know there will be a celebration of life event.  It will be at least a couple weeks out but wanted everyone to know it is in the works. The plan will be to visit each one of Doug’s favorite Los Barriles hangouts – Lazy Daze, Smokey’s and Vagos, where he so enjoyed his friends and to honor all of you and the special relationships that were made over the years. I will send out an update on both Everything Los Barrilles and BPE as soon as we sure up a date. Thank you for your love support and patience through this difficult time.

…… In the end, we all become stories and Knox Hambley was an anthology of epic proportions.  To know him was truly a great and rollicking adventure, an enduring love story, a hero’s journey and above all else – when you were the one experiencing a chapter of the magic jubilation his exuberant, carefree, joyous spirit created – a story you never wanted to end.

On March 12, 1950, Knox was born in the sign of water (and it is true, it is there that he felt his best) and as all who knew him can attest to, Knox spent just short of 69 years forging friendships and ensuring that the sound of his laughter, the generosity of his spirit and the best of himself was deeply imbedded in those he called his familiar, family or friend.  Throughout his many lifetime achievements as a son, brother, friend, father, husband and within his longstanding service to the telephone company (both professionally and playfully), his determination to see Tween Lakes Resort stay within the family of friends he had created there, and his unforgettable presence in the kiteboarding community of Los Barriles, the greatest gift he both gave and received, the richness that his life was built upon and the legacy he leaves behind for all of us is this: the enduring importance of fun, love and friendship.

No matter what the weather or where he was, this free range human we call Knox, would don his superhero costume of a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops and embark upon his life’s work of imparting and infusing as much fun, humour, joy, happiness and love upon all those who crossed his path.  HIs absence in our lives will be deeply felt but he will live on in our remembrances of him and because of him, in our own laughter and joy.

Keeping to his dead leaf theory, Knox’s earthsuit was cremated in his standard garb of a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops accompanied by a picture of his sweetheart, a burger and onion rings, an assortment of licorice, some heartfelt reading material and a butter tart.

A celebration of the stories he weaved among those he loved and an honouring of his friendship will take place in Los Barriles, Baja California later this month where his ashes will be returned to the wind and to the sea.

To all those who have been filled with the deep reverberating sound of his laughter resonating within them, Knox’s wish is that as he goes onto his next great adventure, in lieu of flowers or sadness, you make a donation in remembrance of him to your own self to slow down, relax, have fun, share a story or two of how he touched your life and enjoy the true beauty of your own life, live it well, share it with others, and with great love, invest in each other so that you have the richness and reciprocity of friendship such as he did.

Sad News:  Mike Hurley about 85 yrs. old and  long, long time visitor to LB.  He and wife Joan spent many a month at Martin Verdugo’s fishing and enjoying the weather.  Passed last week after complications with cancer.

She is trained in basic behavior and comes and sits to a whistle.

c.  Tonight about 7:40 I heard a noise outside and looked out front of my home in Las Brisas/The Ridge and there were two very dirty and very smelly guys trying to come in my front gate and I asked them what they wanted and they very loudly kept asking for something in Spanish that I didn’t understand. I apologize in Spanish saying I just didn’t understand and told them to go away. The guy went over to my truck and wrote something I didn’t understand on my window and I told them I didn’t understand and to go away. I then went inside and locked my door because I was alone, a female and it was dark. I called a Mexican friend of mine who brought the police (they were very nice and checked my property and the neighborhood), the police and my Mexican friend read what they had written on my vehicle and said they were asking for narcotics/pain medicine. I told my other neighbors and one neighbor said he saw them hitchhiking into Los Brailles from the north. I don’t know who they are or where they are from but people who need/want pain medication that bad are very concerning. The police asked us to notify them if we saw them again.

a.  For surfisherman!  I’m setting up a Pacific beach tour for next week, Wednesday 20^th  to Friday 22^nd. Come and get the opportunity to catch Snook, Curvina, Rooster fish, sierra, snapper, bass and many other species from the beach. Explore beaches that you would never imagine and experience a different type of fishing. We will stay overnight on a camp location with bathrooms, hot water and all the services needed to spend a great time. We will be exploring 20 miles of beach north of La Paz. Join me and learn few new tricks. Tides are going to be perfect for beach fishing.

Schedule: Depart from Los Barriles at 4pm on Wednesday 20^th, we sleep in La Paz (to get closer to camp site). On Thursday 21^st, we leave at 5am to the camp site and fish all morning, we take a break during midday, and fish again at sunset. Friday 22^nd, we fish the morning and depart to Los Barriles afterwards. This tour includes meals ( Thrusday: breakfast, lunch and dinner; Friday breakfast; and drinks are your own), Premium tackle, La Paz hotel room and transportation round trip. This is a minimum of 3 anglers tour. This is tour can be done by amateur surfisherman no problem, I will teach you casting techniques, tackle to use and knots needed for beach fishing.
