a.  Artist Studio Tour is  this Wednesday, Feb. 13th from 10am – 4 pm.  This year we have 18 different studios with 9 new artists showing!  Many stops are side by side, so you can see them all. c.  Jane and Bill Perry met with the New Mayor of L.B about the road – Agua de la Costa. Today Jan 28th Rueben Cota owner/operator was running the backho digging out large rocks while the Mayor’s employee and Rueben’s two workers along with Bill were removing the smaller rocks and filling the holes with fill dirt/gravel. The project today cost 6400p more work is needed to finish to the black top road. The Perry’s have paid – Homes and Land of Baja has been kind to offer whoever would like to contribute could come and drop a donation to Kathy in their office. The Mayor said the next grating should make the road a lot smoother. Thanking you in advance for your contribution.

These professionals, while gainfully employed and able to pay rent, cannot afford the rents charged to tourists, especially during peak season.  Please review your plans for the next twelve months. c.  It’s that time of year again!  Baja Shakespeare, our local community theater company,  is offering their 19th annual play on March 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 16 at Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort (Spa).  Our inspirational and locally grown Director, Camilla Ford, has adapted the successful musical, Once Upon a Mattress, to our impeccable Baja Shakespearian standards and made it suitable for our troupe of talented actors and re-titled the work, The Sea Princesa and the Frijole (of course!). This show is guaranteed to be another spectacular hit and the troupe is excited to begin the creative process.

A theatre production of this size and quality does not happen without cost.  Production costs include facility rental, costumes, sets, props, makeup, playbills, marketing, etc. etc. The money raised by ticket sales does not cover the cost of production; therefore, the company also raises money through patron memberships in Friends of Shakespeare.  Benefits of the membership include priority seating (two tickets) at your performance of choice, an invitation to attend the pre-production cast and crew dinner party, your name in the playbill, and the knowledge that you are a super-patron of a long-standing community theater company!  We actually have room for a few new members in our patron group this year, memberships are 120 US Playbills.
